Robert Pattinson 13 Mayıs 1986 yılında Londra, İngiltere'de doğdu. Spor konusunda yüksek tecrübesi olan bir spor adamı. Özellikle futbol, ski ve snowboard yapmaktan hoşlanıyor. Ayrıca müzikten de çok hoşlanıyor ve gitarla klavye çalan yetenekli bir müzisyen.

Ateş Kadehi oyuncu kadrosuna, Üçbüyücü Turnuvası'nda Hogwarts'ı temsil edecek olan Cedric Diggory rolüyle katılıyor. Turnuvada kendisine son dakikada gizemli bir şekilde katılan isim elbette Harry Potter.

19 yaşındaki Pattinson profesyonel kariyerine kısa süre önce Uli Edel'in yönettiği, Sam West ve Benno Furmann'ın başrolde yer aldığı "Sword of Xanten"le başladı.

Robert, bunun öncesinde, Barnes Tiyatro Grubu'nun bir üyesiydi ve Thornton Wilder'ın yönettiği "Our Town"da George Gibbs karakteriyle başrol oynamıştı. Robert, ayrıca, Cole Porter'ın yönettiği "Anything Goes"da Lord Evelyn Oakleigh", ve "Tess of the D'Urbevilles"de de Alec rollerini üstlendi. Genç oyuncu, kısa süre önce ise, OSO Sanat Merkezi'nde "Macbeth"te Malcom'ı oynadı.
